What I can power

The 8kW inverter is designed to power a medium-sized household’s essential loads or one or more high power consuming appliance.

The 8kW inverter is designed to power the majority of a medium-sized household’s essential loads with some use of high power consumers.

These could include:

  • Television
  • Satellite decoder
  • Gaming consoles
  • Internet router and modem
  • Computer
  • Printer
  • Cellphone charger
  • Fridge/freezer
  • Lights
  • Ceiling/standing/desk fans
  • Security cameras
  • Electric fence
  • Gate motor
  • Garage door

Alternatively you could use one of these high consuming appliances at a time if the power being drawn by your essential loads is low and the power outage is only expected to last a short time:

  • Microwave
  • Air fryer
  • Toaster
  • Washing machine
  • Dishwasher
  • Iron
  • Hairdryer
  • Air conditioner

What can’t I power?

The 8kW inverter is designed to power a small selection of high power consuming appliances but can be damaged if overloaded.

Our Energy Advisor will discuss your essential loads with you during the site visit and FREE consultation, but you should expect to have the following appliances excluded for your battery backup system.

  • Geyser
  • Stove
  • Oven
  • Kettle
  • Heater
  • Tumble dryer
  • Vacuum cleaner
Loadshedding protection

To ensure your battery storage lasts throughout loadshedding, it is recommended that you reduce your consumption to a minimum. It is also recommended that you avoid using any appliances that consume large amounts of power.

Although this battery has a rating of 5kWh, it is recommended that it does not get discharged below 80% of its capacity. As a result, you can expect to have 4kWh of stored electricity available to you during loadshedding, if the battery is fully charged.

You’ll also want to consider the expected length of the round of loadshedding so you can make sure your batteries last for the duration.

2 hours of loadshedding = 2kWh of battery storage per hour
4 hours of loadshedding = 1kWh of battery storage per hour
